I was looking for something fun to read and it was just in time that Nuts was recently released. I have high expectations on this one because come on, this is Alice and her books just make you smile and giggle like a teen getting crushes for the first time. She writes about amazing and relatable characters and you will definitely be laughing along the story.
I first loved her in Wallbanger and she just continues to amaze me. Soooooo I was fantastically excited when I learned that she was working on a new book series and even more so when Nuts was released. As always, Alice never failed to deliver a fun, sexy read that will leave you feeling good and refreshed.

The story revolves around Roxie Callahan and Leo Maxwell – LA private chef and Farmer Boy. Roxie works as a private chef to LA stars. Living her dream, going home was the last thing on her mind until something happened forcing her to go back to her hometown in Bailey Falls. And mind you, I don’t think I will look at butter the same way again. Ever. Going back gave her a chance to retrace her roots, to reignite her love for a small town she chose to leave behind and to build and rebuild relationships she never thought she could have. Enter Leo Maxwell – local heartthrob and farmer, oozing with appeal and charm. Leo is sought after by the women and men (?) with his hipster beard and undeniable charisma. He is the local farmer who supplies Roxie’s mother’s diner with fresh produce on a weekly basis. I just couldn’t stop swooning over Leo because he is unlike a lot of book boyfriends I have read recently. He is rugged and strong, stable and not afraid to get dirty.

Roxie and Leo crosses paths and to say that it was steamy is a mere understatement of how their relationship started, evolved and grew. Their encounters are hilarious and the dialogues are quirky yet smartly written. Buckle up and prepare yourself for another fun relationship ride with these two.Both characters are amazing and we can easily put ourselves in their place. While Roxie is driven and goal oriented, Leo is practical and mature. Their personalities work well together and I didn’t notice how time flew; it was just that fun to read.
Another aspect of the story that I simply loved is how Alice detailed Bailey Falls, how she gave her readers a very clear concept of how farming and marketing the food works. This novel is a mental food porn so I suggest to read this if and only if you are full or if you have the resources to grab something to eat whenever your tummy calls for it. Aside from steamy scenes between Rox and Leo, the food and cooking descriptions are enough to make you drool.

It’s been a while since I’ve read something that made me laugh but at the same time provided me with a good storyline, loveable characters and interesting plot. Reading Nuts simply put me in a good mood and I am excited how The Hudson Valley series took off to an amazing start! I wonder if Nat and Oscar will be the next couple? Hmmmm.
This is a sweet and endearing story with a feisty female and drool worthy male tossed into a fun and charming setting and storyline. Pick this up and I’m sure you’ll go nuts waiting for the next one.
Where the book took Trish: This story took me to a place where there are hot, witty farmers and gorgeous cakes waiting to be devoured.
