WWW WEDNESDAYS – June 7, 2017

www wednesday

It’s another Wednesday and as you all know, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words where you just have to share a quick reading update.

The three W questions are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

WWW1

I’ve heard of Jessica Park before but it was only recently when I picked something from her which is 180 seconds and I was amazed. And here begins my Park binge.

flat out love

BLURB:

It’s not what you know—or when you see—that matters. It’s about a journey.

Something is seriously off in the Watkins home. And Julie Seagle, college freshman, small-town Ohio transplant, and the newest resident of this Boston house, is determined to get to the bottom of it. When Julie’s off-campus housing falls through, her mother’s old college roommate, Erin Watkins, invites her to move in. The parents, Erin and Roger, are welcoming, but emotionally distant and academically driven to eccentric extremes. The middle child, Matt, is an MIT tech geek with a sweet side… and the social skills of a spool of USB cable. The youngest, Celeste, is a frighteningly bright but freakishly fastidious 13-year-old who hauls around a life-sized cardboard cutout of her oldest brother almost everywhere she goes.

And there’s that oldest brother, Finn: funny, gorgeous, smart, sensitive, almost emotionally available. Geographically? Definitely unavailable. That’s because Finn is traveling the world and surfacing only for random Facebook chats, e-mails, and status updates. Before long, through late-night exchanges of disembodied text, he begins to stir something tender and silly and maybe even a little bit sexy in Julie’s suddenly lonesome soul.

To Julie, the emotionally scrambled members of the Watkins family add up to something that … well… doesn’t quite add up. Not until she forces a buried secret to the surface, eliciting a dramatic confrontation that threatens to tear the fragile Watkins family apart, does she get her answer.

WWW2

I just recently finished the angsty yet satisfying love story of Low and Ever.

LOW OVER HIGH BLURB:

I fancy myself a purveyor of truth, a sifter of lies, a cutter of bullshit. It’s not a gift, but rather, all skill, honed to a razor’s edge after one too many trips down the rabbit hole.

Some may dismiss my talent as misplaced and misguided cynicism, but they’d be wrong. Cliches about hope and faith in mankind are concocted unicorn farts, an effort to keep the dreamers dreaming. Experiences don’t lie—people do.

While I’m not proud of the circumstances that led me to this way of thinking, I respect the journey. The road to enlightenment can be dark and foreboding, but the destination makes it all worthwhile.

But funny thing about the past—it’s a defiant child refusing to stay in time out. No matter how deeply buried, it can always pop up when least expected, and sink its fucking claws into the flesh of your heart. No, not my heart—I no longer have one. I foolishly gave it away years ago, but I still feel the ripping in my chest as I fist the crumpled note left on my porch.

I’ve avoided this day, ran from it, for the past eight years.
And still we meet again.

But to truly understand … to feel my dread and fear my future as I do, it’s important to know what happened in my past.

Or who…

My name is Marlo Rivers, and this is my story of corrupted love.

EVER OVER AFTER BLURB:

Marlo … wild-eyed, untamed, and every single thing I’ve ever wanted from this life. I wasn’t ready for her back then. I was a stupid boy with adult feelings and no idea what to do with them. I squandered away every chance she gave me.

Yes, love like ours either burns white hot or crumbles under the pressure.
And now I’m back to sift through the rubble.

Questions and excuses are two things I have in spades. What I need now are answers.
Answers and Low.
Always Low.

My name is Ever Montgomery, and this is my story of love resurrected.

WWW3

Since I just started Flat Out Love by Jessica Park, it is quite obvious that I will be reading the next books:

(I will not be including the blurbs since I will be going in blind and would not want to have anything spoil my reading.)

And there goes my Wednesday list – mainly revolving around 2 new to me authors. It’s always a pleasure discovering new to me authors and digging through their work.

How are you this Wednesday?

Hope you have some good reads with you.

WWW WEDNESDAYS – May 3, 2017

www wednesday.jpg

It’s another Wednesday and as you all know, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words where you just have to share a quick reading update.

The three W questions are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

** Please forgive me, I’m still in a Maas binge and I promise to go back to some NA/Romance after all these fantasy.

WWW1

I’m currently reading A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOWAR) which just came out yesterday. And though I would really love to have a physical copy of this book, I just cannot wait any longer so I got myself a Kindle version first just to satisfy my reading craving.

A Court of Wings and Ruin

BLURB:

Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.

As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords-and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

Also, I am STILL also reading Queen of Shadows which I have put on hold in the meantime to pave way for ACOWAR.

queen of shadows

BLURB:

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

WWW2

I am truly a slow reader these days and the last one I have finished is still Heir of Fire. I know. Shame on me. I seriously need to pick up my pace.

heir of fire

BLURB:

Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak―but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life―and her future―forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?

WWW3

Quite predictably, since I am serious and dedicated in finishing this series – I will immediately go to EoS right after I finish with CoM and ACOWAR.

Empire of Storms.jpg

BLURB:

KINGDOMS WILL COLLIDE.

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t.

With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

There you have it, my WWW Wednesday with not much progress on my end. But I guess the important thing is that no matter how busy life can get, no matter the pressure adulting will put on you – always find time to open a book, to turn your Kindle on and find time to explore life beyond ours. The pace may be slow but at least the desire to read never falters.

WWW WEDNESDAYS – April 26, 2017

www wednesday

It’s been a week already and I am back to report on the progress I have on my reading list. First and foremost, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words where you just have to share a quick reading update.

The three W questions are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Just like the previous week, my WWW Wednesday reading list today is a bit predictable due to my Throne of Glass series binge.

WWW1

I am now on the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series and boy, this series is FREAKING AMAZING!! I am halfway through this as of writing and I just can’t wait to see how Celaena will save everyone dear to her.

queen of shadows

BLURB:

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

WWW2

I just finished Heir of Fire, the third book from the Throne of Glass series and though I had problems with the pacing, this was still a delight to read! Seriously, I AM HOOKED!!!!

heir of fire

BLURB:

Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak―but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life―and her future―forever. WWW3

Quite predictably, since I am serious and dedicated in finishing this series – I will immediately go to EoS right after CoM. I can’t see myself stopping now. This is too good for words!

As you can see, even though my reading pace is a bit slow these days, I am pretty much dedicated in finishing this series. Not only is this series truly complex and well crafted, I love Sarah J. Mass’ writing as well. My ToG journey has been enjoyable so far and I already feel angsty waiting for that sixth book!

WWW WEDNESDAYS – April 19, 2017

www wednesday

Yesterday, I posted my first ever blog post after a very long time without realizing that it’s Wednesday and forgot to work on this post altogether.

Anyway, this may be a day late but I am ready with my 3 W’s.

First and foremost, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words where you just have to share a quick reading update.

The three W questions are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Since I am currently on a Throne of Glass series binge, this WWW of mine is quite predictable.

WWW1

heir of fire.jpg

I am now in the third installment of the TOG series and I am anxious excited on what awaits Celaena.

WWW2

crown of midnight.jpg

It was actually weeks ago when I finished this and that ending just left me…  speechless. I was getting annoyed at Celaena for most of the book when I felt that she was being too entitled, too bratty and too hard headed and BAMMMMM — there’s a reason for it all.

WWW3

queen of shadows.jpg

Well, well, well. Look at that cover!! Celaena just looks mighty fierce and angsty. I am not stopping now. No matter how slow, I intend to work my way through this series.

And there you have it, my WWW predictable reading list this midweek. Do you have any suggestions? Anything good you’ve read recently? Feel free to share.

Happy reading!

COVER REVEAL | Say You Want Me by Corinne Michaels

“The problem is—I don’t know if he even loves me. And when the ground crumbles beneath us and our world shatters, I’ll finally know if he truly wants me or if we are only fooling ourselves.”

say-you-want-me

Release Date: October 31, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Okay Creations

Review Headings - Blurb

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.
He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick up lines all to himself. It’s bad enough that I made the mistake of sleeping with him once. It will never happen again. I don’t want nor need some cowboy complicating my life.

But I don’t always get what I want.

Whether I like it or not, our lives are intertwined. Trying to keep him out of my heart is futile. He’ll find every loophole and embed himself there.

The problem is—I don’t know if he even loves me. And when the ground crumbles beneath us and our world shatters, I’ll finally know if he truly wants me or if we are only fooling ourselves . . .

Top 5 Wednesday: Gateway Books to Your Favorite Genre

5-top-5-wednesdays

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY ON A FRIDAY? WHAT’S THE PROBLEM WITH THAT? THIS IS MY LITTLE SPACE IN THE INTERWEBS AND I DO WHAT I WANT. *BOSSY SMIRK*

Kidding aside, I saw this meme on Bea’s blog – CONFESSIONS OF A PINAY BOOKAHOLIC (P.S. Check out this reading machine’s blog. She always has something new and fresh) and when I saw “New Adult”, I knew in my heart of hearts that I need to create this list.

I’ve been meaning to do this Top Five Wednesday meme for the longest time but my diligence sucks sometimes and I am currently at a phase wherein my commitment to post at the right date is questionable at best. CASE IN POINT.

But who knows, maybe October will be my fresh start? Keep your fingers crossed for me then.

Anyway, (God, I talk a lot. I feel like Miley on The Voice! Don’t go Blake on me friends!!!) this is a weekly meme created by LAINEY of Ginger Reads Lainey and with its new host, SAM of Thoughts on Tomes .

If you would all like to join, check out the next topics on their Goodreads page on the link below.

TOP FIVE WEDNESDAYS on GOODREADS

This week’s topic is “Gateway Books to Your Favorite Genre” and everyone who knows me knows that my love for NEW ADULT is huge. Humongous. Big. You get the point.

So here are my picks, basically these are the books I recommend first whenever someone asks for a New Adult recommendation:

SLAMMED by COLLEEN HOOVER

slammed

Colleen Hoover is like the gateway to a lot of things. Non-reader friends venturing into reading would ask me for a book recommendation and CoHo would be my first pick. You can never go wrong with CoHo, any of her works for that matter. But I choose Slammed because it’s one of those NA books that will really stay with you, will make you think and feel and will just make you feel good. I don’t need to say much except that THIS.IS.BEAUTIFUL.

TANGLED by EMMA CHASE

tangled

This book (and series) is hilarious and fun to read. You won’t feel time passing because you’re just having fun while reading the adventures and misadventures of the main characters. If you’re looking for something that will keep you entertained all while providing a good storyline, this one’s a good book to start.

THE EDGE OF NEVER by JA REDMERSKI

The Edge of Never

Here’s another favorite. I usually recommend this to people who do not mind a slow burn. This book is quite long for a romance but you will appreciate it in the end. You will understand that the reason that the first half of the book took time is for the readers to appreciate the second half more. This is a story of soul searching, finding one’s self and will give you all the YOLO feels.

BRIGHT SIDE by KIM HOLDEN

Bright Side

This one is fairly new but I feel like everyone should read a book like this once in a while. It’s not all romance, not all steam. It’s more about life and appreciation, hope and acceptance. It will break your soul but will mend you in the end as well. This is an epic story of love, family and friendship.

THE OPPORTUNIST by TARRYN FISHER

otp3

If you think I’m ending this list without a TF book, you’re mighty wrong. I always recommend this book to people who are looking for an unconventional love story and for unlikable characters. If you’re looking for a read with loads of bold and brave decisions as well as messy and broken plots – to the point that it feels refreshing and new, this one’s for you.

And there you have it! This is my New Adult starter pack – each one different from the other in terms of plot, premise, twists and feels. When people say that New Adult is a failing genre, I just smile sweetly and say “nah-uh”, you just haven’t found the right NA yet

COVER REVEAL | The Player by Claire Contreras

“She says I’m bad news. I have three weeks to prove her wrong.”

The Player2.jpg

To say that I am positively drooling is an understatement.

I usually don’t get easily swayed by covers like this. But to know that a cover like this will partner up with Claire’s writing got me tremendously excited!!!!!

Claire Contreras, you surprised me! I am used to sweet covers from Claire then to see this one is such a shock. If I’m not mistaken, this is Claire’s first cover with a male body spread for everyone to feast on. But hey, I’ve got no complaints here.

Review Headings - Blurb

I’m naturally gifted on the field and between the sheets. With flashy cars and enough media attention to put the Royal Family to shame, I’m the definition of Most Eligible Bachelor.

I’ve never met a man who doesn’t want to be me or a woman who doesn’t want to tame me. Until I meet Camila.

From the moment I lay eyes on her, I know I have to have her.

She wants to keep me at arm’s length.
I want her naked in my bed.

She thinks our worlds are too different.
All I want her to think about is screaming my name.

She says I’m bad news.
I have three weeks to prove her wrong.

COVER REVEAL | Bad Mommy by Tarryn Fisher

“I can be a better you.”

BadMommy_Amazon_iBooks.jpg

COVER BY THE TALENTED MURPHY RAE OF  Indie Solutions by Murphy Rae

THAT TAG LINE ALONE WINS IT! If you know me, you would know that I love all things TF. You just don’t know what she’ll come up with next. Her mind is like a smorgasbord of ideas and thoughts. The only thing you need to do is be prepared to be wowed. And look at this cover! This is seriously badass. I love how the woman seems to be out of control, like she’s going on a downward spiral. I love the intensity of her features and the less colors used on the cover makes it stand out even more. But the eyes seriously creep me out. Knowing TF, it was probably done on purpose.

Review Headings - Blurb

Almost every day is a very bad day when you’re twenty-seven, your tits are starting to sag, there are lines creeping in around your eyes, and you realize that no one would like you if they actually knew who you really were. Fig Coxbury is fed up with her life: her cheating ex-husband, the excess fat around her waist, and most of all, her loneliness.

When Fig chances upon Jolene Avery, the embodiment of everything she’s ever wanted to be, Fig befriends her out of curiosity.

Fig soon begins to emulate all aspects of Jolene’s life, because when you find someone who knows exactly who they are, you can’t help but want to be just like them.

Or in Fig’s case… become them.
