This Isn’t Over, Baby (War & Peace #3) by K. Webster

“Some nightmares simply won’t die. Some nightmares will haunt you until your last breath.”

I was truly hesitant to even start this book because I wasn’t sure I have the mental wellness to dive into Gabe’s twisted head. But that’s it – I was expecting to meet Gabe’s crazy mind but I was given so much more. SO MUCH MORE. I wasn’t expecting it and I wasn’t even expecting to survive it.

It takes so much courage and talent to create a book of villainous antics and somehow make the readers want to read that book. I actually wanted to stop at Book 2 but my nosey self once again won. Damn curiosity! I wanted to know what happened because Book 2’s ending was just too cliffy for my taste. I did a buddy read with Bea – and one word of advice, you would really need someone there for you as you vent and rant about the events of this book. You will curse, you will cringe, you would wish to shut your mind off.

This book is seriously, mind blowingly crazy stuff. This is mad! This is completely insane!!!!

This third story features Gabe’s past and what made him that way, what caused him to act the way he does yada yada. I understand. I get it. I may have sympathized but I’m still not feeling any Gabe love. I may have forgiven him a little but he is a total and complete nut job. I just can’t find myself investing on his character. Then of course, there’s his line that even villains need love. Oh man, you will not be prepared for who Gabe’s love interest in this story is. That woman just topped Gabe’s psycho level on so many marks. Her character was totally unexpected and her portrayal of such role just shook me. I felt the urge to DNF this book so many times but there’s this tugging feeling that I HAVE TO FINISH and see what happens. Gabe and his lady love are so far gone, there’s no reasoning with them, no way to make them see logic.

I have devoured dark books in the past but this one — man, this is a bit too much, totally extreme. Like why in the world would a daughter who was loved, cared for, adored and given the world turn into a complete evil, psycho murderess.  It’s just mind boggling.

I’ve been rooting for War and Bay since Book 1. I’ve longed for closure and happiness for these 2 but sadly IT’S STILL NOT HAPPENING. I know. I know. I’m not usually demanding of HEAs. But these two – they, at least need to have PEACE OF MIND for God’s sake! Sixteen years later and they’re still mentally and emotionally distraught.

Writing wise, this story is amazing. How in the world can K. Webster finish this without going mad?! I need to know! Her writing is direct, definitive and just mentally addicting. The images she stored in my head will forever be there. Sadly though, I’m not totally crazy with the direction the story has taken, feeling like we could do without this third book and basically my character disinterest on Gabe and his lady love.

But that’s just me. Feel free to see for yourself. But again, BE READY!!Stars - 3

Review Headings - Blurb

They’d won the battle and I held up the white flag of defeat…
But the war wasn’t OVER.

I suffered the aching loss of what they had stolen from me.
OVER and OVER again, my heart broke.
The white Queen and the black King had taken OVER the game
and ruled for what seemed like eternity.

Until one day, eternity was finally OVER.

I was the dark knight who would rise again and conquer.
I was the man who would win OVER the most important piece on the board.

A slayer. A protector. A father.
A new king with the blackest of hearts.

And head OVER heels in love with…
The little princess who owned my twisted soul.

Sometimes the villains don’t just want their happy ending…
They demand it.

This isn’t OVER, baby.
This will never be OVER.

Warning: This Isn’t Over, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.

  1. I’m also curious to know what happens in this book. I feel as if I may have the same rating as you did because this is pretty much how I felt about the second book, but dang it I need closure lol
